The Mystique of Machu Picchu

Our second day in Machu Picchu began with a torrential rainstorm, but by mid-morning the weather had changed to a light rain and we got to see the site in a misty, cloudy light.

As the clouds hung over the mountains, the site took on an entirely different feel from the bright sun of the day before.
Raingear was a definite must. We got to see the ancient drainage system in action.
Fog hid many of the tallest peaks we had seen the day before and crept over and down the terraces.
Pat went off to explore the less-visited areas of the sites and found the well-preserved remains of a two-story building.

Machu Picchu is a truly spiritual experience, especially on a misty day.
