The Mystique of Machu Picchu
Our second day in Machu Picchu began with a torrential rainstorm, but by mid-morning the weather had changed to a light rain and we got to see the site in a misty, cloudy light.
As the clouds hung over the mountains, the site took on an entirely different feel from the bright sun of the day before. | |
Raingear was a definite must. | We got to see the ancient drainage system in action. |
Fog hid many of the tallest peaks we had seen the day before | and crept over and down the terraces. |
Pat went off to explore the less-visited areas of the sites | and found the well-preserved remains of a two-story building. |
Machu Picchu is a truly spiritual experience, especially on a misty day. |
