Cusco

Leaving Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes, we boarded the train to Cusco and had a relaxing ride through the river valley.
After the train ride we boarded the bus and drove into a magnificent rainbow. Back in Cusco, we visited the site of Sachsayhuaman.
These rocks were some of the largest ever used in construction of Incan sites. The effect was rather like that of a medieval fortress, surrounded by a large grass moat.
We also visited Tambomachay, the site of a spring that has flowed since pre-historic times.
Overlooking Cusco is the White Christ, a replica of the famous statue in Rio de Janeiro, which was given to the City of Cusco by the Palestinians. Like many tourists, we ended by photographing some of the more picturesque locals as we looked out over the city.
