A Trip to Panama and Costa Rica
Through the Canopy
On the way to San Jose we stopped to take an aerial tram ride through the canopy. It was a whole different perspective. Here we encountered our one and only snake, an eyelash viper. Chuck can't believe that Pat could look at it long enough to take a picture!
The tram went through four layers of the forest to give a comprehensive picture of it. The various shades of green and brown were punctuated by the bright flowers along the ground.
Towards the top of the canopy plants grew upon plants in such numbers that it was hard to figure out which was which. From the top, you feel like a bird flying over the trees.
The views from the highest levels were incredible. Some of the plants, like this star fern, were natural works of art.
By the end of the trip, Shelley (the INTRAV rep) was ready for a cold drink and a ride to San Jose. We were all sorry to say goodbye to Umberto, but the trip was over. It was a great experience.
