A Trip to Panama and Costa Rica
Transitional Rainforest: Manuel Antonio National Park
Manuel Antonio National Park is called "transitional forest" between the rainforest to the south and the deciduous forest further north. Although well-camouflaged, the iguana was visible to Carla's sharp eyes.
We encountered a troop of white-faced Capuchin monkeys. While certainly not tame, they were clearly habitutated to humans in the area and put on a show for us.
But eating was clearly the most important item on the agenda. We found a 3-toed sloth hanging around.
The coatimundi is also very comfortable around humans. Like the raccoon it likes to hang around picnic grounds, but looks so much more exotic.
The beach at the park is popular with Costa Ricans as a day trip. The shore birds were reflected in the placid water.
An osprey surveyed his domain.  The afternoon sun made a pretty picture as the day ended.
