Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River

Victoria Falls, on the Zambezi River, is one of the most impressive waterfalls I have ever seen. The path along the face of the falls runs for about 3/4 of a mile and every few yards there was another magnificent view, usually with a rainbow.

The indigenous people call Victoria Falls "the smoke that thuunders." This photo, taken from our hotel, show how the spray from the falls looks like smoke.
We went on a sundowner cruise on the river (well upstream from the falls!) and encountered this small group of elephants sharing the river with us.
There were lots of shorebirds, including this egret.
And elephants on shore as well.

And a beautiful sunset.
