Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River
Victoria Falls, on the Zambezi River, is one of the most impressive waterfalls I have ever seen. The path along the face of the falls runs for about 3/4 of a mile and every few yards there was another magnificent view, usually with a rainbow. |

The indigenous people call Victoria Falls "the smoke that thuunders." This photo, taken from our hotel, show how the spray from the falls looks like smoke. |
|
We went on a sundowner cruise on the river (well upstream from the falls!) and encountered this small group of elephants sharing the river with us. |
|
There were lots of shorebirds, including this egret. |
And elephants on shore as well. |
And a beautiful sunset. |
