A Trip to Panama and Costa Rica
The People: Quepos and Dancers
We went to visit the town of Quepos. The road to Quepos was narrow, but that didn't stop a few Costan Rican drivers from zooming along it.
A bird on the wire--in this case, one of many kinds of flycatchers. A male great-tailed grackle displays for a female.
"No parking in front of the emergency vehicle exit," it says. Good advice but. . . . . .probably unnecessary. [Later we did see a working police car in town.]
The roads were narrow and congested, lined with shops and restaurants. Tile work is an art form in Costa Rica, on floors, porches, and even sidewalks.
Carla recommended this ice cream shop, and she was right. It was Saturday afternoon, so the men of the town were gathered to play dominoes.
The marina is very nice and there are plans to build a much larger one. Another beautiful afternoon ended.
Some local dancers came on board the Yorktown Clipper that evening to demonstrate traditional folk dances.
